Events - Composers in First Person

CHINCH, Initiative for research and production of contemporary music, "live" and visual arts, from Belgrade, is presenting the project: "Composers in First Person" in September 16-19, at the Students Cultural Center (SCC), Belgrade. The main goal of this project is to present face-to-face works of composers and musicians who have changed the paradigm of contemporary music making in past three decades in European context.

Poetics of Louis Andriessen (Holland), one of the most important European composers, is simultaneosly sharp, provocative and polemic response both to American minimal music, and Europen modernist paradigms. Dutch composer Gilius van Bergeijk uses music from the past as object, than models, deconstructs and transforms it to personalized new music creating amusing experience. Bernhardt Lang (Austria) has brought together the achievements of avant-jazz, improvisation, postmodern new constructivism and inspiration from the great works of post-war European philosophy.

Poetika Luja Andrisena (Holandija), jednog od najznačajnijih savremenih evropskih kompozitora, je istovremeno oštar, provokativan i polemičan odgovor i američkoj minimalističkoj muzici, i evropskim dostignućima muzičke moderne. Holandski kompozitor Hilijus van Berhajk koristi muzike prošlosti kao objekte koje modeluje, dekonstruiše i transformiše u lično obojenu novu muziku obezbeđujući zabavno iskustvo. Bernhard Lang (Austrija) je sučelio dostignuća avant-džeza, improvizacije i postmodernog novog konstruktivizma sa inspiracijom velikim delima posleratne evropske filozofije.

Among them, Jasna Velickovic (coming from Serbia, currently lives and works in Netherlands) is one of the most prominent young composers on international scene.

"Composers in First Person" invites authors to discuss their position within contemporary music world "order" and searches to investigate how does expectations from music-up-to-day function in different cultural situations. Therefor, CHINCH invites you to come and see these composers perform and talk about their works this September in Belgrade.
